Awhile back, I made a lot of apple sauce with the apples from my parents’ tree. As I was cleaning out the freezer, I found a ziplock bag full of some leftovers. Left it in the fridge for a few days and decided to make an apple crisp – such a wonderful winter treat!
- Homemade apple sauce (click here for recipe)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
STEP 1: Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
STEP 2: Place apple sauce in 8×8 or 6×9 baking dish.
STEP 3: In medium bowl, mix together flour, oats, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly (I used my hands to get more of an even mixture).
STEP 4: Sprinkle mixture evenly over apples.
STEP 5: Bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes, until topping is golden brown.
STEP 6: Serve warm or at room temperature. Add vanilla ice cream for an extra touch.
