I saw these on Pinterest and thought they were SOOO CUTE!! I never had an excuse to make them until this years New Years party. They were a huge hit and taste alright if you like cream cheese and olives. Mostly they are adorable hehe 🙂
INGREDIENTS (yields 16 penguins)
- 4 ounces cream cheese (I used light cream cheese)
- 4 carrots
- 1 can large black olives
STEP 1: Chop carrots into 16, 1/8 inch slices. After slicing, cut small triangle / wedge out of the side of the carrot.
STEP 2: Slice olives in half (long-wise) to make the wings.
STEP 3: Take a full olive and insert carrot wedge into the small star on the olive to make the beak.
STEP 4: Make ball of cream cheese with 1/4 teaspoon.
STEP 5: Place 1/4 teaspoon of cream cheese on top of carrot piece to make the feet and body. Add “wings” or halved olives on either side.
STEP 6: Pierce a toothpick through the top of the olive head and spear through cream cheese ball and carrot feet.
STEP 7: Add to serving place and refrigerate until ready to serve. Enjoy all the “Awww’s” from your guests 🙂
